1. WOOD AND STONE (T. Nevins)
Raised at the foot of a hill down that one dirt lane
Raised where the shade of a maple tree'll run a hole right through a
name

CHORUS
Wood and stone a house a home
for the trials of our family tree
all I know is that wood and stone'll be the better part of me

Played in the yard with the garden hose bathing suits and trembling
knees
Mothert and fathers voices drowning out the sound of the summer breeze

CHORUS

Apples in the apple tree for the sauce that grandma made
Apples in the hand for the horse I'm shaking in the shade of its
thoroughbred mane

CHORUS

Christmas night Holy night mother loves us with her life
Daddy loved us too but I'll never know if he loved the outcome of his
life

CHORUS
All I know is that wood and stone'll be the better part of me

 2. ALL I EVER NEEDED (T.Nevins)
Thinking and a praying and a learning to love each night
Maybe you can look to something maybe you can learn to live it, its
right
Yeah to live it's alright

Wishing I belonged to something better than what I do now
Well I try to keep from crying I'd be lying if I said I knew how
Yeah if I said I knew how

CHORUS -
All I ever wanted were your baby blues
To wear my worries down and
All I ever needed was your loving hand
To walk this heart around

Learning it the hard way learning that the heart does break
Living it's the only way you learn just what the heart can take
Yeah what the heart can take

Holding on and letting go and trying hard to understand
Still reaching for believing in a truth that you can hold in your hand
Yeah you can hold in your hand

CHORUS

Maybe you can offer something other to a lover than you don't care
Cause I felt it when you dealt and I nearly melted down in despair
Yeah I melted down in despair

I'll know it if I see it if I feel it as I'm watching you there
Maybe you can learn to love me maybe you can learn to love me I swear
Yeah to love me I swear

CHORUS

3. YOU'VE GOT IT ALL (T. Nevins)
Maybe you think now you've got it all
Yeah you've got it all until you don't have anything

Maybe you say you didnt want it this way
Well so you say well yeah you did it anyway

Maybe you cry cause you did what your father did
Maybe you cry and now you have to live with it

CHORUS
Wheels keep turning theres a fire still burning inside
Road keeps running and the sky keeps shining its light
Seas keep rising no one is gonna keep them down
This foot in front of anothers gonna turn this around

Maybe I see all the reasons it came to be
Maybe I see your own revision of humanity

Maybe I know what its like to be lost at sea
Maybe I know the way to shore is not your specialty

Maybe I care with a love that was sent to me
Maybe I care enough to reckon with your cruelty

CHORUS

Maybe you say you didnt want it this way
Well so you say well yeah you did it anyway

CHORUS

Maybe you think now you've got it all
Yeah you've got it all

4. YOU'RE STILL DRIVING THAT TRUCK ( T. Nevins)
You're still wearing that shirt
You're driving that truck
You're still looking at love
Like you're gonna get hurt

You're still walking your dog
You're still watching the tube
You're still holding on to
Something that once hurt you
Something that once hurt you

You're still reading the news
You're still rocking that chair
You're still looking to blame
Anyone who dares to care

You're still driving that ball
You're still hooking that line
You're still strugglin for a joy
Of the natural kind
Of the natural kind

You're still taking it wrong
You're still trying to make it right
You're still looking for an answer
That lets you sleep at night

You're still rolling your eyes
You're still buying the gas
You're still looking for a reason
To make a good thing last
To make a good thing last

5. WHO WOULD YOU TELL (T. Nevins)
Who would you tell
Honey who'd know you well
Enough to know how hard you'd fallen
Who'd know how hard you fell

What would you do
Honey with half a clue
What would it take to follow through
What difference would it make in you

CHORUS
Hey Babe, what d'ya say I can see it all
I can see it, you can be it
Change the writing on the wall
Hey babe, what d'ya say open up your door
And let me in, let me in, let me love you that much more

How would you show it
Honey if you'd ever let go of it
And give your heart to someone
How would that someone know

What holds you there
Honey where you dont dare
To let the feeling melt into the middle of your everywhere

CHORUS
I believe Im on my knees with your story
Will it lead us, will it keep us,
Will it bring our love to glory
Hey babe, I know know ya need all that you believe
When hopes a worry, and faiths a chore
Let what dares you lead you more

What is it you're not confessing
Is it something you're repressing
Standing in the way
Is this just an early chapter
Is it love that words are after
If i turn the page

CHORUS

What is it you're stuck protecting
Somethings stolen, Im detecting
It shut you down
If somehow its that you're broken
Could it be this ones the token
To bring you around

6. SNOWBIRD (T. Nevins)
Snowbird stay by my window just you don't come in

Wings I've not I'm bound to the ground
So alone fear I'll walk through this life I've found
Snowbird If I could fly I'd be your everything
Snowbird if I could fly Id be your everything

Tremble and shake from the love we make
But I'm never gonna be a heart you can break
Snowbird ever in my heart won't let you under my skin
Snowbird ever in my heart never under my skin

Won't let you in and it makes me cry
Before I'd let you in I'd have to say goodbye
Snowbird outside my window you're a beautiful sight
Snowbird outside my window til the love runs cold
Snowbird fly away from my window let a man grow old
Snowbird fly away from my window let the truth be told

7. NOTHING REALLY (T. Nevins) (Instrumental)

8. WHAT MONEY CANNOT BUY (T. Nevins)
If I had a dollar for every tear I've cried
I'd be without what money cannot buy
I'd take me a number and I'd lay that money down
Win or loose I'd be the poorest girl in town

CHORUS
I'll be gone gone gone
Long after it could never be
I'll be be gone gone once I'm gone
Honey don't you wait for me

I looked into my heart in moments far too few
Am I the girl to forever please a man like you
If not blinded I surely would have seen it from the start
That I'd loose the hand that held me to its heart

CHORUS

Rose colored memories on which my heart is hung
Fade like a song thats too long been unsung
I wish I had hard times stuck inside my head
Help me to forget we'd ever met

CHORUS

9. THE WRONG SIDE (T.Nevins)
You walked the wrong side now our love is gone
You walked the wrong side now our love is gone
You walked the wrong side now our love is gone

You broke our vows and now our days are done
You broke our vows and now our days are done
You broke our vows now pack your bags and be gone

Left me for lonely still Im moving on
Left me for lonely still Im moving on
Left me for lonely I wont be lonely long

Your love was never ever beyond compare
Yes your love was never ever beyond compare
Our love went flat once you took a spare

You took the low road faded in the dawn
You took the low road and faded in the dawn
You took the low road to carry your ways on

You walked the wrong side now our love is gone
You walked the wrong side now our love is gone
You walked the wrong side now our days are done

10. STARS FELL ON ALABAMA (Original Music Frank Perkins, Lyrics Mitchell Parish, New Music and Arrangement T. nevins)
We lived our little drama
We kissed in a field of white
And stars fell on Alabama last night

I can't forget the glamour
Your eyes held a tender light
And stars fell on Alabama last night

I never planned in my imagination
A situation so heavenly
A fairy land where no one else could enter
And in the center, just you and me

My heart beat like a hammer
My arms wound around you tight
And stars fell on Alabama last night

I never planned in my imagination
A situation so heavenly
A fairy land where no one else could enter
And in the center, just you and me

My heart beat like a hammer
My arms wound around you tight
And stars fell on Alabama last night
And stars fell on Alabama last night

11. DOWN SOUTH BLUES (Music and arrangement T. Nevins, Lyrics
Traditional)
CHORUS
Oh, love is like water
It is turned off and on
When you think you've
got 'em
Oh they are turned off and gone

I'm a-going to the station
Going to catch the fastest train that goes
I'm a-going back south
Where the weather suits my clothes

I was reared in a country
Where the snow, most always fell
I'm a-going
back South
If I don't do so well

CHORUS

I'm going back South
If I wear out 99 pair of shoes
'Cause I'm
broken-hearted
I've got those down South blues

Oh my daddy told me
And my mama told me too
Don't you go off, honey
Let
the man make a fool out of you

CHORUS

I'm a-going to the station
Going to catch the fastest train that
goes
I'm a-going back south
Where the weather suits my clothes

CHORUS

12. TENNESSEE RIVER (T. Nevins)
Sittting out with the fiddle in my hand
Focusing on the distant view
I can see the Tennessee River
Steam rises when I irirate you

Stepping out up on Panorama Drive
Dogs barking in the distant view
Sun above a southern mountain
Melted down to the center of you

Suns setting with a song in my head
Mesmerized by the distant view
Eyes fixed on white lights blinking
Shadows lingered when I couldnt trust you

Sitting down with a pen in my hand
Take a stab at the distant view
Words lay like stains on white paper
Everything I wont forget about you
I wont forget about you

Steering now with the wheel in my hand
Holding on with no distant view
Tears drive with the force of millions
Killed the memory of the day I left you

Staring out of this bedroom window
Night falls on the distant view
Lights across the icy water
Nothing floating down the river to you
Down the river to you

Sitting out with a fiddle in my hand
Staring off at the distant view
I can see the Hudson River
Still blinded when I think about you
Yeah when I think about you
I think about you

13. BEAUTY OF DAYS GONE BY (Van Morrison)
When I recall just how it felt
When I went walking down by the lake
My soul was free my heart awake
When I walked down in to the town

The mountain air was fresh and clear
The sun was up behind the hill
It felt so good to be alive
On that morning in spring

I want to sing this song for you
I want to lift your spirits high
And in my soul I want to feel
The beauty of the days gone by

CHORUS
The beauty of the days gone by
It brings a longing to my soul
To contemplate my own true self
And keep me young as I grow old

The beauty of the days gone by
The music that we used to play
So lift your glass and raise it high
To the beauty of the days gone by

I sing it from the mountain top
Down to the valley down below
Because my cup does overflow
With the beauty of the days gone by

The mountain glen where we used to roam
The garden down by the railroad track
Oh my memory it does not lie
For the beauty of the days gone by

The beauty of the days gone by
It brings a longing to my soul
To contemplate my own true self
And keep me young as I grow old
And keep me young as I grow old
And keep me young as I grow old

Beyond the words to describe how wonderful and talented you are Tara. I think I have told you this before in person but I cannot imagine my life without your music!

  3. Brenda Mcgee says:

Thank you for reminding me of the beauty of the days gone by. This entire album is “heart” and “soul” …such a soundtrack for life. Love & appreciate you much.

  4. Ken says:

Just picked up the cd @ a show. WOW! These words can only come from someone who has experienced a crushed heart. Track 12 really stirred something in me. The hurt never really goes away, we just have to find ways to mask it.

  5. Benjamin True says:

I am thoroughly impressed with the record. Thank you so much. The Van Morrison cover to end the record is a perfect ending.

  6. Rick Wiebe says:

    Hey Tara ,
Just so great ! Hopefully this is not the only ” Absolutely Blown Away ” comment since almost a year ago ? I spent a day last weekend by myself listening to a Folk feed on Canadian Sat. radio. You are so good . I grabbed a piece of paper wrote down your name and hoped that I would be able to convey a message to you. Wonderful ! I would love to see you in concert sometime. Where & when are you out there ?
    An Admirer,
    Rick
