1. WOOD AND STONE (T. Nevins) Raised at the foot of a hill down that one dirt lane Raised where the shade of a maple tree'll run a hole right through a name CHORUS Wood and stone a house a home for the trials of our family tree all I know is that wood and stone'll be the better part of me Played in the yard with the garden hose bathing suits and trembling knees Mothert and fathers voices drowning out the sound of the summer breeze CHORUS Apples in the apple tree for the sauce that grandma made Apples in the hand for the horse I'm shaking in the shade of its thoroughbred mane CHORUS Christmas night Holy night mother loves us with her life Daddy loved us too but I'll never know if he loved the outcome of his life CHORUS All I know is that wood and stone'll be the better part of me 2. ALL I EVER NEEDED (T.Nevins) Thinking and a praying and a learning to love each night Maybe you can look to something maybe you can learn to live it, its right Yeah to live it's alright Wishing I belonged to something better than what I do now Well I try to keep from crying I'd be lying if I said I knew how Yeah if I said I knew how CHORUS - All I ever wanted were your baby blues To wear my worries down and All I ever needed was your loving hand To walk this heart around Learning it the hard way learning that the heart does break Living it's the only way you learn just what the heart can take Yeah what the heart can take Holding on and letting go and trying hard to understand Still reaching for believing in a truth that you can hold in your hand Yeah you can hold in your hand CHORUS Maybe you can offer something other to a lover than you don't care Cause I felt it when you dealt and I nearly melted down in despair Yeah I melted down in despair I'll know it if I see it if I feel it as I'm watching you there Maybe you can learn to love me maybe you can learn to love me I swear Yeah to love me I swear CHORUS 3. YOU'VE GOT IT ALL (T. Nevins) Maybe you think now you've got it all Yeah you've got it all until you don't have anything Maybe you say you didnt want it this way Well so you say well yeah you did it anyway Maybe you cry cause you did what your father did Maybe you cry and now you have to live with it CHORUS Wheels keep turning theres a fire still burning inside Road keeps running and the sky keeps shining its light Seas keep rising no one is gonna keep them down This foot in front of anothers gonna turn this around Maybe I see all the reasons it came to be Maybe I see your own revision of humanity Maybe I know what its like to be lost at sea Maybe I know the way to shore is not your specialty Maybe I care with a love that was sent to me Maybe I care enough to reckon with your cruelty CHORUS Maybe you say you didnt want it this way Well so you say well yeah you did it anyway CHORUS Maybe you think now you've got it all Yeah you've got it all 4. STARS FELL ON ALABAMA (Original Music Frank Perkins, Lyrics Mitchell Parish, New Music and Arrangement T. nevins) We lived our little drama We kissed in a field of white And stars fell on Alabama last night I can't forget the glamour Your eyes held a tender light And stars fell on Alabama last night I never planned in my imagination A situation so heavenly A fairy land where no one else could enter And in the center, just you and me My heart beat like a hammer My arms wound around you tight And stars fell on Alabama last night I never planned in my imagination A situation so heavenly A fairy land where no one else could enter And in the center, just you and me My heart beat like a hammer My arms wound around you tight And stars fell on Alabama last night And stars fell on Alabama last night 11. DOWN SOUTH BLUES (Music and arrangement T. Nevins, Lyrics Traditional) CHORUS Oh, love is like water It is turned off and on When you think you've got 'em Oh they are turned off and gone I'm a-going to the station Going to catch the fastest train that goes I'm a-going back south Where the weather suits my clothes I was reared in a country Where the snow, most always fell I'm a-going back South If I don't do so well CHORUS I'm going back South If I wear out 99 pair of shoes 'Cause I'm broken-hearted I've got those down South blues Oh my daddy told me And my mama told me too Don't you go off, honey Let the man make a fool out of you CHORUS I'm a-going to the station Going to catch the fastest train that goes I'm a-going back south Where the weather suits my clothes CHORUS 12. TENNESSEE RIVER (T. Nevins) Sittting out with the fiddle in my hand Focusing on the distant view I can see the Tennessee River Steam rises when I irirate you Stepping out up on Panorama Drive Dogs barking in the distant view Sun above a southern mountain Melted down to the center of you Suns setting with a song in my head Mesmerized by the distant view Eyes fixed on white lights blinking Shadows lingered when I couldnt trust you Sitting down with a pen in my hand Take a stab at the distant view Words lay like stains on white paper Everything I wont forget about you I wont forget about you Steering now with the wheel in my hand Holding on with no distant view Tears drive with the force of millions Killed the memory of the day I left you Staring out of this bedroom window Night falls on the distant view Lights across the icy water Nothing floating down the river to you Down the river to you Sitting out with a fiddle in my hand Staring off at the distant view I can see the Hudson River Still blinded when I think about you Yeah when I think about you I think about you 13. BEAUTY OF DAYS GONE BY (Van Morrison) When I recall just how it felt When I went walking down by the lake My soul was free my heart awake When I walked down in to the town The mountain air was fresh and clear The sun was up behind the hill It felt so good to be alive On that morning in spring I want to sing this song for you I want to lift your spirits high And in my soul I want to feel The beauty of the days gone by CHORUS The beauty of the days gone by It brings a longing to my soul To contemplate my own true self And keep me young as I grow old The beauty of the days gone by The music that we used to play So lift your glass and raise it high To the beauty of the days gone by I sing it from the mountain top Down to the valley down below Because my cup does overflow With the beauty of the days gone by The mountain glen where we used to roam The garden down by the railroad track Oh my memory it does not lie For the beauty of the days gone by The beauty of the days gone by It brings a longing to my soul To contemplate my own true self And keep me young as I grow old And keep me young as I grow old And keep me young as I grow old

Your lyrics are heartfelt and wrenching – so full of life and love.
You knock me out!
Beyond the words to describe how wonderful and talented you are Tara. I think I have told you this before in person but I cannot imagine my life without your music!
Thank you for reminding me of the beauty of the days gone by. This entire album is “heart” and “soul” …such a soundtrack for life. Love & appreciate you much.
Just picked up the cd @ a show. WOW! These words can only come from someone who has experienced a crushed heart. Track 12 really stirred something in me. The hurt never really goes away, we just have to find ways to mask it.
I am thoroughly impressed with the record. Thank you so much. The Van Morrison cover to end the record is a perfect ending.
Hey Tara ,
Just so great ! Hopefully this is not the only ” Absolutely Blown Away ” comment since almost a year ago ? I spent a day last weekend by myself listening to a Folk feed on Canadian Sat. radio. You are so good . I grabbed a piece of paper wrote down your name and hoped that I would be able to convey a message to you. Wonderful ! I would love to see you in concert sometime. Where & when are you out there ?
An Admirer,
Rick
